In Transit Quartet
IN TRANSIT is a quartet project featuring myself in collaboration with three of Switzerland’s most talented improvisers: Juerg Solothurnmann on saxophones, Daniel Studer on bass and Dieter Ulrich on drums. The quartet released our debut CD "Moving Stills" on Unit Records in 2007, performed at the 2008 Schaffhausen international Jazz Festival and will be touring Europe again in March, 2010! The ensemble is primarily involved in spontaneous group improvisation.

Jürg Solothurnmann - Saxophones
Saxophonist, musicologist and broadcaster Solothurnmann (1943) started out with postbop, blues and Latin music but for a long time has enjoyed to team up with flexible improvisers from diverse backgrounds. Concerned with the development of an authentic contemporary expression, his music often evolves in the large transition zone between the various mentalities, cultures and esthetics. Today, his playing integrates and transforms a variety of musical approaches ranging from folklore imaginaire to speech-like or pointilist sound events. Among his best known groups were the First Aid Band, Alpine Jazz Herd and Agasul Orchester. Since the 1980s he collaborates with artists from Europe, the USA and the Orient. At present he is active with Evan Parker & September Winds, the Free Sound International Ensemble Bucharest, Potage du Jour and www.avantart.comDieter Ulrich – Drums and composition
