Music for Large Ensemble

The band:

My interest in composing for large ensembles goes back to the mid 1990's when guitarist Jeff Raheb and I founded the now defunct "Brooklyn Jazz Composer's Orchestra".  This 17 piece big band performed original music composed by myself and Jeff Raheb.  The group lasted for 6 years.

During the years 2014-15 I was a member of the Asheville Tango Orchestra and arranged several of my original compositions for that group.

More recently I have turned my attention to composing for a mixed chamber jazz ensemble that includes woodwinds, strings, brass, percussion and vocals.

In May, 2017 my first small orchestra piece will be premiered in Asheville, NC at the Diana Wortham Theatre under the direction of Russ Wilson.  The piece is entitled "Canvas # 1".
