Concert starts at 4pm. Tickets are $35 per person. Seating is limited.
For our program of Broadway classics, we’ve assembled a lively jazz trio of Rick Dilling, drums, Michael Jefry Stevens, piano, and guest artist Rusty Holloway, bass; Rusty is making his first appearance with Art of Jazz. They will treat you to glorious songs like “I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face,” “Almost Like Being in Love,” “Old Devil Moon” and “If I Were A Bell” — all performed with inspired verve and improvisation.
The concert takes place in an elegant home in southeast Hendersonville. As always, you’ll be welcomed with a glass of wine, and plied with good things to eat at intermission. Seating is limited to 35, so make your reservations early. Last year every concert sold out in a few days.
By the way, May 13 is Mother’s Day, so bring mom – she will love it!

ABOUT THE MUSICIANS
RICK DILLING, drums. Though he wanted to be a golf pro, lucky for us, Rick ended up with a degree in Music Industry Studies at Appalachian State University. He has played drums with the likes of Clark Terry, Herb Ellis, Billy Taylor, Margaret Whiting, Ernie Watts, and the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra. Moving to Asheville in 2011, Rick now performs with the Todd Wright Quartet, Asheville Jazz Orchestra, and Wendy Hayes. Says Todd Wright about Rick, “He listens and supports the soloist like none other – and loves to swing."
RUSTY HOLLOWAY, bass. Rusty is a teacher, performer and recording artist equally adept in classical music, jazz, swing, bluegrass and other musical genres. He has performed with Woody Herman, Dizzy Gillespie, Clark Terry, Zoot Sims, Sarah Vaughn, Stan Getz, Eliot Zigman, Steve Wilson and Al Cohn, among others. In addition, Rusty has made TV and show appearances with Bob Hope, Liza Minelli, Della Reese and Jerry Lewis. Recently retired from the faculty at the University of Tennessee School of Music – Knoxville, he is an active clinician in improvisation and rhythm section techniques and teaches master classes in bass performance.
MICHAEL JEFRY STEVENS, piano. As a “Steinway Artist,” Michael performs extensively in Europe and North and South America. He has a master’s degree in Jazz Performance and Composition from Queens College in NYC. His prodigious musical output includes over 80 CDs, over 350 compositions for large and small ensembles, and performances and/or recordings with such jazz “greats” as Dave Liebman, Dave Douglas, Oliver Lake, Han Bennik, Valery Ponomarev, Cecil Bridgewater, Matt Wilson, Mark Feldman and many others.
